It's the night before Thanksgiving and I'm curled up on the couch next to my mother at my parents' home in snowy upstate New York. There is a fire in the fireplace, a nice glass of malbec within arm's reach, and a calico purring on my lap. We're going through boxes of family pictures dating back to the early 1900s.

We come across a beautiful sepia portrait of a woman in a white blouse with upswept dark hair and we both pause to admire the photograph. Her eyes look like mine. My mom tells me that she is my great-grandmother, who emigrated from Italy close to the turn of the century.

What a gift it is to have this photo. It makes me wish I had similar portraits of my mother and grandmother. 

As women, however, we tend to worry about how we look in pictures or that we 'just need to lose a few pounds', so we avoid the camera and consequently do not exist in photos. I promise you that your loved ones have no trouble seeing your natural beauty and would treasure a great photo of you, just as I love this photo of my great-grandmother.

It's time you existed in photos, and it is my job to guide you so that you feel comfortable and confident, which allows that natural beauty shine out. One day that portrait of you will be the most precious thing that your children will ever own.

Once your appointment is scheduled, we'll send you a welcome packet with information about how to prepare for your session and what to bring. We'll also schedule a phone consultation to plan out the details and talk through any questions you may have. 

On the day of your session, our professional hair and makeup team will take great care of you to ensure that you look and feel your best for the shoot. As the photographer, I will guide you through each pose to ensure that every shot is flattering and beautiful, and a stylist will stay on site for touch ups and to blow some air into your hair so you can just relax, feel like a movie star, and enjoy your time in the studio! 

When your photos are ready, you'll come back into the studio to see the finished printed photographs. This experience can sometimes be overwhelming and your first instinct is very likely to be "I love them all!" Once you pick out your favorites, we'll talk through print and package options.
